465-MW Badger State Solar+Storage Project Announced (Ind. Report)

In Milwaukee, We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service, the largest utilities in WEC Energy Group, are proposing to purchase the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center, a planned 465-MW solar and battery storage project in south-central Wisconsin. If approved, the project would be the largest renewable energy project in the state.

The Koshkonong Solar Energy Center would feature 300 MW of solar generation and 165 MW of battery storage. The total investment is expected to be $649 million. WPS would own 90 pct of the project with Madison Gas and Electric holding the remaining 10 pct. If approved, construction is expected to begin in late 2022 for commercial operation in 2024. Koshkonong is part of WEC Energy Group's plan to invest nearly $2 billion in new solar, wind and battery storage projects at its utilities by 2025.

This is the third large-scale solar and battery project announced in 2021 by We Energies and WPS. Earlier this year, the companies announced plans for the 325-MW Darien Solar Energy Center and 310-MW Paris Solar-Battery Park. WEC Energy Taking 90 pct Stake in Jayhawk Wind Farm (M&A)

Milwaukee-headquartered WEC Energy Group reports it has agreed to a $302 million acquisition of a 90 pct ownership stake in the 70-turbine, 190-MW Jayhawk Wind Farm, to be built in Bourbon and Crawford counties, Kansas -- subject to regulatory approvals.

Invenergy will take the remaining 10 pct ownership interest and will operate the facility which is being developed by Charlottesville, Virginia-based Apex Clean Energy. The project is expected to begin commercial operation before the year end.

Wisc. Two Creeks Solar Park Now Online (Ind. Report)

In Green Bay, Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPS) is reporting the state's first large-scale solar facility -- the Two Creeks Solar Park in Manitowoc County -- is now online.

The 150-MW, 500,000-panel solar facility is jointly owned by WEC Energy Group and Madison Gas and Electric.

WPS parent company-WEC Energy Group has committed to make its electric generation fleet net carbon neutral by 2050 and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70 pct below 2005 levels by 2030. WEC Energy Taking 85 pct Stake in S.D. Wind Farm (M&A, Ind. Report)

Milwaukee-headquartered WEC Energy Group reports it will pay $235 million for an 85 pct ownership interest in Tatanka Ridge Wind Farm, under construction in Deuel County, South Dakota.

The Tatanka Ridge project is being developed by Avangrid Renewables, LLC, and will incorporate 56 wind turbines totaling 155 MW capacity. The project is expected to come online early in 2021 and has a long-term PPA for 100 pct of its energy output. WEC Energy Group investment is expected to be eligible for 100 pct bonus depreciation, The deal is subject to regulatory approvals.

WEC Energy Increases Stake in 750-MW Wind Portfolio (M&A)

The Milwaukee-based WEC Energy Group reports it will invest $118 million to up its shareholding from 80 to 90 pct in a 750-MW portfolio of midwestern wind farms developed by Invenergy LLC.

The investment, which will be eligible for 100 pct bonus depreciation and production tax credits, is subject to regulatory approval.

The portfolio includes the 250-MW Blooming Grove wind farm in Illinois, the 300-MW Thunderhead Wind Energy Center and the 200-MW Upstream Wind Energy Center, both in Nebraska. All of the power plants have long-term PPAs wth affiliates of investment-grade multinational corporations. WEC Energy Acquiring Majority Stake in Ill. Wind Farm (M&A)

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based WEC Energy Group Inc. reports it will acquire an 80 pct ownership interest in ithe McLean County, Illinois, Blooming Grove Wind Farm for $345 million, subject to regulatory approvals.

The project, which has two PPAs in place, will incorporate 94 GE wind turbines with a combined capacity of 250 MW, is being developed by Invenergy and is slated to come online before the year end. 450-MW Solar Projects Approved in the Badger State (Ind. Report)

In the Badger State, WEC Energy Group, Inc. reports it has received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (WPSC) for two solar projects totaling 450 MW at an expected total cost of $390 million, of which the WPSC will invest $260 million. The projects are expected to come online by the end of 2020.

Notably, Solar projects in Manitowoc County will be developed by NextEra Energy's unit NextEra Energy Resources while the Badger Hollow project in Iowa county will be developed by Invenergy. Together, the projects are expected to generate sufficient energy for 120,000 Wisconsin households in a year. WEC Energy Takes Major Stake in 97-MW Wind Project (M&A,

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based WEC Energy Group Inc. is reporting its $145 million acquisition of an 80 pct stake in the 39-turbine Coyote Ridge Wind Farm in Brookings County, South Dakota.

The 97-MW Portland, Oregon-based Avangrid Renewables project is presently under construction for an expected commissioning by the end of 2019. Avangrid Renewables will operate the wind farm which has a PPA with Google Energy. WEC Energy reportedly plans to invest $1 billion in renewable energy power generation through 2019-2023.
