National Biodiesel Foundation Grants to Support B100 (Ind. Report)
National Biodiesel Foundation,Optimus Technologies
Date: 2020-10-26
The Jefferson, Missouri-based National Biodiesel Foundation reports receipt of two DOE 2021 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) program grants to support s the purchase of new vehicles equipped to run on 100 pct biodiesel (B100).

The first grant is in partnership with the District of Columbia (DC) Department of Public Works and DC Department of Water for the purchase of 24 short-haul utility replacement vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction.

The Iowa project will replace a multi-purpose vehicle in both Ames and Des-Moines. All replacement vehicles will use Optimus Technologies' Vector system using 100 pct biodiesel supplied by Renewable Energy Group (REGI).

The projects include an educational and outreach component which will be provided by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and Greater Washington Regional Clean Cities Coalition and the Iowa Biodiesel Board and Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. Purdue Studies Benefits of US Biodiesel (Report Attached)
National Biodiesel Foundation
Date: 2020-01-22
The impacts of U.S. biofuel policy on deforestation in Malaysia and Indonesia are found to be insignificant, according to the latest research from leading economic modeling experts at Purdue University. The study looked at concerns from renewable fuel opponents claiming that biofuels are to blame for increased agricultural activity in southeast Asia.

Previous analysis published by U.S. EPA, California Air Resources Board and Argonne National Laboratory have quantified the benefits of using biodiesel in place of fossil fuel because of its significant reduction in GHG emissions. With a quantified reduction in CO2 emissions between 50 and 86 pct lower than petroleum, biodiesel and renewable diesel are experiencing increased use under federal and state policies.

National Biodiesel Foundation B100 Project Funded (Ind. Report)
National Biodiesel Foundation,Optimus Technologies
Date: 2019-10-25
In the Show Me State, the Jefferson City-headquartered National Biodiesel Foundation is reporting receipt of grant funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its 2020 National Clean Diesel Project which is run in partnership with Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT), Pittsburgh-based Optimus Technologies and Renewable Energy Group (REGI) based in Ames, Iowa.

The project will retire older, more polluting vehicles in Iowa and replace them with new B100-optimised vehicles for the cities of Des Moines and Ames, Iowa. The replacement vehicles will use Optimus' Vector technology which allows the vehicles to operate exclusively on 100 pct biodiesel, with the exception of start-up and shutdown, to optimize fuel savings and emissions performance. REG will provide the refueling infrastructure for the fleet of new B100 vehicles. (Source: National Biodiesel Foundation, PR, 25 Oct., 2019) Contact: National Biodiesel Foundation Tom Verry, Exec.
