Double-Headed Floating Wind Turbine Touted (New Prod & Tech)
EnerOcean
Date: 2019-04-22
In Spain, Malaga-headquartered EnerOcean S.L. is touting its W2Power floating turbine, a 1:6 scale prototype of which which is slated for sea-testing beginning next month. The prototype, generating just 200kW of power, is expected to pave the way for massive future turbines generating 10-12MW each.

According to developer EnerOcean, "The W2Power solution offers greater power generation without the need to increase the use of steel in the construction of the platform, thus becoming the lowest cost floating solution for the generation of wind energy in deep waters." Depending upon the prototype's success, EnerOcean S.L. foresees a 300-MW marine offshore wind farm by 2025.
