Kenyan Kipeto Energy Wind Project Nears Startup (Int'l. Report)

In Kenya, Kipeto Energy Plc reports construction at the Kipeto Wind power project in Kajiado County, Kenya has been largely completed following the installation of all the 60 General Electric (GE) 1.7-103 wind turbines.

The 100 MW project is expected to come online before the year end when it will supply Kenya Power and Lighting company with sufficient energy for more than 40,000 area homes under the terms of a 20-year PPA. Lekela's Western Cape Wind Farm On Budget, On Time (Int'l. Report)

Amsterdam-headquartered utility-scale renewable energy developer Lekela Power B.V. reports construction of its Perdekraal East Wind Farm on the West Coast of South Africa, is nearing completion.

All of the projects 48 turbines and a new 500MVA main power transformer are expected to be installed by early April 2020 for an expected commissioning before the month end.

The Perdekraal East Wind Farm construction is reportedly on time and on budget with 40 pct of the 48 turbines installed. Upon completion, the facility will be the Western Cape's largest BW4 wind farm and Lekela's fourth operating wind farm in South Africa. Enel Building 280MW New Wind Capacity in S. Africa (Int'l.)

Enel Green Power RSA reports construction is underway on its 140 MW each, Karusa and Soetwater wind farms in Northern Cape province, South Adrica. The €200 million apiece projects are expectd to be completed and commissioned by the end of 2021.

Enel is constructing 5 wind projects totaling roughly 700 MW in South Africa -- Karusa and Soetwatera, Nxuba and Oyster Bay in the Northern Cape, as well as Garob in the Eastern Cape -- all of which have 20-year PPAs with the South African energy utility Eskom, according to the Enel release. ENGIE'S 119MW Willogoleche Australia Wind Farm Now Online (Int'l)

In the Land Down Under, French renewable energy developer ENGI is reporting its 119MW Willogoleche wind farm in South Australia has been completed and is now online. The project, which incorporate 32 units of GE's 3.8MW turbines at scale, was completed by Engie and JV partner Mitsui & Co, two years after it was announced in 2017.

ENGIE notes power generated by the wind farm will be delivered via its retail power arm, Simply Energy, which has more than 700,000 customers in Australia, including nearly 90,000 in South Australia.
