Oslo-headquartered Norwegian oil and gas major Equinor -- fka Statoil -- reports it has entered the Argentine wind-power market with a $30 million share purchase bid for a 50 pct stake in the 120MW Canadon Leon wind farm project, which is owned and being built in Santa Cruz Province by the state controlled power company YPF Luz.
Equinor holds a 50 pct indirect interest in the 100MW Guanizul 2A solar farm and recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Petrobras to investigate Argentina's offshore wind energy potential. YPF Luz Adding 400 MW of Wind Power in 2020 in Argentina (Int'l.)
Buenos Aires-based Argentinian electric power producer YPF Luz reports it will add around 400 MW of wind energy in 2020, primarily to fulfill long term contracts.
The additional 400 MW correspond to the 99 MW Manantiales Behr wind farms in Chubut, the Los Teros wind farm, in Buenos Aires with 174 MW and the 122 MW Canadon Leon wind facility in Santa Cruz.
