WEC Energy Acquiring Majority Stake in Ill. Wind Farm (M&A)

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based WEC Energy Group Inc. reports it will acquire an 80 pct ownership interest in ithe McLean County, Illinois, Blooming Grove Wind Farm for $345 million, subject to regulatory approvals.
The project, which has two PPAs in place, will incorporate 94 GE wind turbines with a combined capacity of 250 MW, is being developed by Invenergy and is slated to come online before the year end.

450-MW Solar Projects Approved in the Badger State (Ind. Report)
In the Badger State, WEC Energy Group, Inc. reports it has received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (WPSC) for two solar projects totaling 450 MW at an expected total cost of $390 million, of which the WPSC will invest $260 million. The projects are expected to come online by the end of 2020.
Notably, Solar projects in Manitowoc County will be developed by NextEra Energy's unit NextEra Energy Resources while the Badger Hollow project in Iowa county will be developed by Invenergy. Together, the projects are expected to generate sufficient energy for 120,000 Wisconsin households in a year. WEC Energy Takes Major Stake in 97-MW Wind Project (M&A,

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based WEC Energy Group Inc. is reporting its $145 million acquisition of an 80 pct stake in the 39-turbine Coyote Ridge Wind Farm in Brookings County, South Dakota.
The 97-MW Portland, Oregon-based Avangrid Renewables project is presently under construction for an expected commissioning by the end of 2019. Avangrid Renewables will operate the wind farm which has a PPA with Google Energy.
WEC Energy reportedly plans to invest $1 billion in renewable energy power generation through 2019-2023.

WEC Takes Stake in Bishop Hill III Wind Energy Centre (M&A)

Milwaukee-headquartered utility holding company WEC Energy Group reports it will acquire an 80 pct stake in the Bishop Hill III Wind Energy Center in Henry County, Illinois, for $148 million. The transaction is subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval.
The Bishop Hill project, which was developed by Invenergy, incorporates 53 General Electric turbines totaling 132MW capacity and
has a 22-year, 100 pct power purchase agreement in place with not-for-profit WPPI Energy.
WPPI Energy provides electric power to 51 member utilities in Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa.

WEC Energy Plans 350-MW Solar Park (Ind. Report)

US Milwaukee-headquartered utility holding company WEC Energy Group reports it plans to construct a 350-MW solar power station in Wisconsin following next years planned shut-down of the 1,190-MW Pleasant Prairie coal-fired power plant in 2Q, 2018.
Closing the inefficient coal-fired plant will help the company meet its goal of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 40 pct from 2005 levels by 2030.

Wisc. Anaerobic Digestion Project Scores $15Mn Grant (Funding)

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) reports it has approved a conditional $15 million Focus on Energy grant to BC Organics, LLC to build and operate a $60 million integrated anaerobic digester project that will be shared by at least nine dairy farms in Brown County. The system will produce renewable natural gas from dairy farm manure and other waste.
BC Organics is a consortium of 24 members led by Wisconsin-based Dynamic Concepts of Waukesha, along with WEC Energy Group, US Biogas LLC and BioStar Organics.
