Vitol Supplying Neste SAF at Heathrow (Int'l., Ind. Report)

Helsinki-headquartered sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producer Neste Oy reports Vitol Aviation, a fuel supplier at Heathrow Airports in the UK, is making Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ available beginning today, June 3rd, ahead of the G7 Summit to be held from 11 to 13 June 2021. Vitol Aviation intends to deliver further supplies ahead of COP26 to enable attendees to also transit to Glasgow with lower-emissions.

Neste MY SAF is produced 100 pct from renewable and sustainable waste and residue raw materials, such as used cooking oil and animal fat waste. Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel, in its neat form and over the life cycle, reduces up to 80 pct of greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil jet fuel use. Phillips 66, Uniper and Vitol-owned VPI Immingham have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to install post-combustion CO2 capture equipment on two of VPI Immingham's three gas-fired power generators and selected processing units at the Humber and Lindsay refineries, the companies said Tuesday.

In a first phase, Humber Zero would capture 8 million metric tonnes per annum of CO2 emissions, with the potential to target 30 million mt CO2 emissions from the wider Humber Cluster to the west of Immingham. The Humber Zero decarbonization project would then seek to develop of a hydrogen hub producing both green and blue hydrogen . Wood Group, Imperial College of London and the University of Sheffield are also involved in the project, which is part of Innovate UK's Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund competition to deliver 2050 Net Zero objectives. Gresham Fund Acquires UK Battery Energy Storage facilities (M&A)

In the UK, Gresham House Energy Storage Fund is reporting the acquisition of two operational battery storage facilities totaling 50 MW. The £29.2 million($38.6 million) acquisitions were from VLC Energy, a joint venture between Low Carbon and VPI Immingham, a subsidiary of Vitol Group.

The acquisitions include a 40 MW facility in Kent and a 10 MW project in Cumbria that were commissioned in January 2018. The plants are two of the UK's largest energy storage facilities and their combined 50 MW capacity represents a quarter of National Grid's 2016 Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) capacity.
