Zug, Switzerland based asset management firm Capital Dynamics subsidiary Clean Energy Infrastructure reports it and Omaha-headquartered Tenaska will develop nine battery energy storage systems (BESS) with approximately 2,000 MW of capacity in the Cal-ISO market to "help integrate" renewable energy.

Presently, Clean Energy Infrastructure and Tenaska jointly own two solar facilities in California's Imperial Valley area and are developing additional solar projects. Tenaska's 242-MW Missouri Wind Farm Now Online (Ind. Report)

Omaha, Nebraska-based Tenaska reports its 242-MW Clear Creek Energy Center wind farm in Northwest Missouri, is now in operation The facility incorporates 111 Vestas turbines across approximately 31,000 acres.

The $300 million wind farm produces renewable energy under a 25-year PPA with Associated Electric Cooperative, an electric generation and transmission cooperative based in Springfield, Missouri, that provides wholesale power to six regional cooperatives. The wind farm is owned by Tenaska Clear Creek Wind, which is comprised of affiliates of Tenaska and Bright Canyon Energy. Construction of the wind farm began in spring 2019. Vestas, a global wind turbine manufacturer, supplied the wind turbines and is providing maintenance services for the project. Mortenson was the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Acciona, Tenaska Ink 4-GW U.S. Solar, Storage Deal (M&A)

Madrid-based Acciona Energia SA reports an agreement under which Omaha, Nebraska-based energy company Tenaska will acquire 3,000 MW of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and a 1-GW battery storage development portfolio of 20 U.S. projects in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, within the area of the PJM Interconnection and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) transmission markets.

Acciona plans to commission the first eight projects, with some 1,200 MW of rated capacity, before the end of 2023. Tenaska, through its solar unit Tenaska Solar Ventures, will work with Acciona to finalize the development of the projects.

Presently, Acciona has over 1,245 MW of wind power assets installed or under construction in North America, and owns and operates a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant near Las Vegas. Acciona Acquiring Tenaska Wind Portfolio (M&A, Ind. Report)

Madrid-based Spanish renewable energy major Acciona Energia Acciona SA is reporting an agreement to acquire 3,000 MW of utility-scale U.S. solar PV projects and a 1-GW battery storage development portfolio from Omaha, Nebraska-based energy company Tenaska.

Highview Power Contracts with Tenaska Power Services for US Cryogenic Energy

In the U.K., London-headquartered cryogenic energy storage system specialist Highview Power reports it has contracted with Texas-based energy management firm Tenaska Power Services Co. to identify, model, optimize and provide energy management services for up to four giga-scale cryogenic energy storage plants in the U.S. over two years. The initial project is expected to be developed in the ERCOT market.

At giga-scale, Highview Power's long-duration energy storage systems paired with renewables are equivalent in performance to thermal and nuclear baseload power. Tenaska Closes $302Mn Financing for Missouri Wind Farm (Funding)

Further to our Feb. 19, 2018 coverage, Kallanish Energy is reporting Omaha-headquartered independent power producer Tenaska has closed on approximately $302 million in commercial financing for Tenaska Clear Creek Energy Center, a 242-MW wind project under construction in Nodaway County Missouri.

Vestas is supplying 111 wind turbines and will provide maintenance services for the project. Mortenson is providing engineering, procurement and construction (Epc) services for the project which is expected to come online before the year end. The project will deliver power under a 25-year PPA with Associated Electric Cooperative, a 910,000-member cooperative based in Springfield, Missouri. Hero BX Snares Clinton, Iowa Biodiesel Facility (Ind Report, M&A)

In Erie, Pennsylvania, Lake Erie Biofuels, -- dba Hero BX -- is reporting the September 21st acquisition of the former Clinton County Biodiesel facility in Clinton, Iowa, from Tenaska Commodities LLC, an affiliate of Tenaska Inc.

Hero BX expects plant upgrades to be completed and production to begin before the year end.

This acquisition brings the production complement of Hero BX to Erie, Pennsylvania; Moundville, Alabama; South Roxana, Illinois; tolling at the IRE facility in Washington, Iowa; as well as blending and distribution in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Tenaska Inks 236 MW Missouri Wind Farm PPA (Ind. Report)

Omaha-headquartered independent power producer Tenaska reports it has inked a 236 MW, 25-year PPA with Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. for a wind from Tenaska's Clear Creek Energy Center which is currently in advanced development near Maryville in Nodaway County, Missouri. The Clear Creek project will incorporate approximately 100 to 120, i2 MW-3 MW wind turbines. Construction of the $200 million to $300 million project is expected to begin in 2019 for commissioning in 2020.

Associated Electric, an electric generation and transmission cooperative based in Springfield, Mo., provides wholesale power to six regional cooperatives, including NW Electric Power Cooperative Inc. of Cameron, Mo., and 51 local cooperative systems in Missouri, southeast Iowa and northeast Oklahoma that serve 910,000 members.
