InnoEnergy Invests in NexWafe Solar Production Tech. (Ind. Report)

Netherlands-based sustainable energy innovation company InnoEnergy reports it has invested €2 million in "EpiWafer" solar wafer technology by NexWafe Gmbh. EpiWafer enables manufacturers to go straight from raw material to wafer form by eliminating several costly development stages and thus trim as much 50 pct from PV wafer manufacturing costs, according to the companies.

The two companies have teamed In a joint pilot project known as Epicomm to commercialize the technology. NexWafe GmbH will develop solar cells and modules from its wafers, with designs to scale-up significantly. The project is backed by Fraunhoefer ISE, ISC Konstanz and Ecosolifer and Fill Factory.
