Hanwha Launches Residential Solar Battery Pkg (New Prod & Tech)

Solar cell manufacturer Hanwha Q Cells is reporting the Australian launch of Q.Home, a "fully wrapped" home solar and storage package.

The Q.Home combines solar panels, a hybrid inverter, and lithium-ion battery storage scalable from 4-12kWh up to 12kWh. On average, the Q.Home system is expected to generate 355kWh more energy than the industry standard -- which equates to a surplus of 35.5kWh per year for 10 years. The Q.Home's Home Energy Management System (HEMS) allows consumers to monitor and predict household usage patterns and solar energy production. The system can also be paired with either of Q Cells new launched premium panels with 25-year product warranty, the Q.PEAK DUO-G5+ or Q.PEAK DUO-G6+. APS Plans 850MW Solar Battery Storage (Ind. Report)

US-based electric utility Arizona Public Service (APS) is planning to add battery storage to its fleet of solarpower plants, as well as build solar facilities with storage. As part of the initiative, the company plans to add 850MW of battery storage and at least 100MW of new solar generation by 2025.

Large-scale solar plants owned by APS across the state will be upgraded with 200MW of battery storage systems. A team from Invenergy, an Illinois-based energy company will install six new battery systems at solar plants in Maricopa County and Yuma by 2020, with the balance to be complete by 2021. The utility is also planning to construct 500MW of solar storage and standalone battery storage by 2025 as part of its long-term clean-energy transition objective. Shell Acquiring Home Solar Battery Manufacturer (Int'l, M&A)

Oil giant Shell Overseas Investment B.V. -- Shell New Energies reports it will acquire German battery maker Sonnen and roll it into a wholly owned subsidiary that will accelerate both company's integrated energy services and electric vehicle charging solutions. As previously reported Shell invested in Sonnen in 2018.

According to Sonnen, 40,000 of its SonnenBatterie systems have been installed world wide, 3,000 of which are in Australia. Sonnen was the first battery manufacturer to participate in South Australia's Home Battery Scheme and the company has set up battery assembly operations in Adelaide.

Shell Invests in Bavarian Solar Battery Specialist Sonnen (Int'l)

Anglo-Dutch petroleum giant Royal Dutch Shell reports it has taken a stake in the Bavarian solar battery maker Sonnen by participating in a new €60 million ($70 million) financing round. Other investors included GE and Chinese wind power group Envision.

altE Offering Portable Solar Power Generators (Ind. Report)

Boxborough, Massachusetts-based altE Store reports it is now manufacturing a proprietary line of portable solar powered generators in response to increasing demand for portable and semi-portable solar power equipment.

The altE portable solar powered generators are designed to function independently from the power grid and can produce up to 350 watt hours of power per day. The self-contained units include three 30 watt solar panels and a 55 amp hour solar battery to power one DC outlet, two USB ports and two AC outlets. When fully charged the units will power a string of LED light for six hours, multiple cell phones or tablets, a laptop for 24 hours or an internet router 24/7. AGL Launches Rooftop Solar Monitoring Service (Ind. Report)

In the Land Down Under, AGL Energy is offering households with rooftop solar systems Solar Command Check, a free service to help customers with digital meters protect potential savings by monitoring their systems.

Solar Command Check alerts registered customers if it detects a potential problem with their PV systems. Solar Command Check is available to customers on a solar tariff with AGL, a smart meter with more than 30 days of data, who are registered for My Account on the AGL website, have no solar battery and are not already subscribed to our subscription-based Solar Command monitoring service.

IKEA Offering Options to Tesla Solar Panels, Powerwall (Int'l)

IKEA reports it has teamed up with SolarCentury in the UK to offer homeowners a new solar battery storage solution which rivals Tesla's Powerwall. The IKEA offering, which is compatible with existing panels or as part of a new combined system, claims to cut electricity bills by up to 70 pct, according to IKEA.

The IKEA solar battery storage solution is for sale in the UK, where typically, solar equipped houses use 40 pct of their sun-sourced energy and send the remaining 60 pct back to the national grid.
