GE to Help Develop Indian Renewable Energy Zones (Int'l. Report )

GE Grid Solutions reports it has been awarded a contract by ReNew Power Pvt. Ltd., India's leading company in terms of total generation capacity, to build two 400 kV substations in the southwest state of Karnataka, India -- a 400/220 kV air-insulated substation in Koppal, and a 400 kV gas-insulated substation in Narendra. The contract includes the supply of two 125 MVAR 400 kV reactors for each substation.

The scheme, which is part of the planned interstate-based evacuation infrastructure that will create 66.5 GW of renewable energy zones in India, involves the evacuation of 2.5 GW from wind energy zones in Karnataka as part of the first of three phases of the overall project. Renew Power "Green" Bonds Raise $400Mn (Int'l. Report)

In Delhi, India's largest renewable energy company, ReNew Power reports raising $400 million in "green" bond sales from global debt investors including Mauritius-based Clean Energy Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renew Energy Global Plc that is the parent of the operating firm ReNew Power.

The 5.25-year "green" bonds are certified by the Climate Bond Initiative and will be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

The money will be used to refinance existing high-cost debt and fund capital expenditure, among other uses.

To date, ReNew Power has raised over $3.5 billion from eight issuances, of which, seven are outstanding. The funding will be used to refinance existing high-cost debt and fund capital expenditure of its subsidiaries and for other corporate purposes.

ReNew Power is among India's largest independent renewable energy producers, developers, builders, owners and operators of utility-scale wind and solar energy projects, hydro and distributed solar energy projects with a total capacity of10.3 gigawatts (GW) across, including commissioned and committed projects, as of Nov., 2021, according to the company website. Global Alliance for Sustainable, Renewable Energy Launched (Int'l.)

A group of 17 global leaders from across the renewable energy value chain and the sector’s innovation ecosystem have launched the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy, a new organization to ensure renewables are wholly sustainable and lead a just transition away from fossil fuels. The partners' shared vision is the need to take concrete, collaborative action to decarbonize the global energy system while ensuring its sustainability from an environmental, social and governance (ESG) perspective.

Siemens Gamesa Claims Major Indian Wind Turbine Order (Int'l.)

Madrid-based wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa reports receipt of a major order for 180 units of its new SG3.4-145 wind turbines from ReNew Power for two projects in Karnataka State, India. Ninety-three units for the Tondehal project in the Koppal district, and 87 units for the 301 MW Hombal project in the Gadag district, for delivery in 2022.

Siemens Gamesa and ReNew power first partnered in 2012 for a 22 MW wind farm in the state of Maharashtra.Since that time Siemens Gamesa has developed wind farms for ReNew power across five wind-rich states in the country which are powered by turbines ranging from the company's legacy 850 kW turbine to its latest SG 3.4-145 turbine. Today, with over 1 GW of commissioned capacity of wind projects, Siemens Gamesa serves over 30 pct of ReNew's wind portfolio. UNEP, ReNew Power Partner to Increase India Renew Energy (Int'l)

In Delhi, India's largest renewable energy company, ReNew Power, and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are reporting a partnership agreement to promote increased access to renewable energy and improved energy efficiency as part of the progressive strategies India has adopted to realize its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the Paris Climate Agreement.

ReNew Power will partner with the UNEP District Energy in Cities Initiative to support market transformation efforts to shift the heating and cooling sector to renewable and energy efficient solutions. The Initiative supports local and national governments on building local know-how and implementing enabling policies to accelerate investment in modern -- low-carbon and climate resilient -- district energy systems. The Initiative also works with cities and industry to identify, assess and tender bankable district energy projects based on international best practices.

Renewable energy sources constitute about 23.6 pct of total installed capacity in India which has targeted 175 GW of renewables capacity by 2022. Greenko, Renew Power Win 1200MW Indian Solar-Storage Tender (Int'l)

Greenko Group with 900 MW and Renew Power with 300 MW are reporting winning the New Delhi-headquartered Solar Energy Corporation of India's (SECI) tender for for 1200 MW, with 600 MW assured storage capacity. The tender includes pumped hydro and battery of about 3000 MW and renewable energy generation capacity.

The Indian Union Power Ministry has mandated at least 21 pct of all energy requirements be from renewable energy sources by 2021-22.
