Further to our 8 Feb., coverage, UK, Yorkshire-based power station operator Drax Group reports its indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary Drax Canadian Holdings' previously announced acquisition of Vancouver, British Columbia-based wood pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Energy is moving forward.

The deal, which is subject to shareholder approvals, is expected to add 2.9 million tpy of biomass power production capacity to DRAX group and significantly reduce its average cost of production. DRAX Acquiring Pinnacle Renewable Energy (M&A, Ind. Report)

UK-headquartered DRAX Group is reporting a £226 million agreement for its wholly-owned subsidiary DRAX Canadian Holdings' acquisition of British Columbia-based wood pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Energy. The deal, which is subject to DRAX shareholder, regulatory approval and other customary conditions, is expected to close in Q3 this year.

According to the release, DRAX and Pinnacle combined will have 17 wood pellet plants, 3 major fibre baskets, 4 deep water ports, 4.9 Mt capacity from 2022 with 2.9 Mt available for self-supply, 2.6 GW of renewable biomass generation, with potential for BECCS, global growth opportunities for sustainable biomass. Pinnacle Announces Mitsubishi Contract Extension (Ind. Report)

British Columbia-based wood pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Energy is reporting an extension of a long-term, take-or-pay off-take contract with Japan-headquartered Mitsubishi Corporation Ltd. Under the terms of the extension, Pinnacle will supply 80,000 to 90,000 metric tpy of industrial wood pellets to Mitsubishi beginning in Q1 2023. The industrial wood pellets will be used by a biomass power generation plant in Japan.

Wood pellet usage in Japan has continued to grow alongside the build-out of biomass generating capacity there, providing Pinnacle with a geographically advantaged opportunity to continue expanding in this market, according to the release. Pinnacle Sets Wood Pellet Production Record (Ind. Report)

Vancouver-headquartered Pinnacle Renewable Energy Inc. is reporting a record 587,000 metric tons of wood pellet production during Q3, 2020 -- up 13 pct when compared to the Q2 of this year and up 33 pct when compared to Q3, 2019.Download the full report HERE.

The company operates eight industrial wood pellet production facilities in western Canada and one in Alabama, and owns a port terminal in Prince Rupert, B.C. Pinnacle Completes Woody Biomass Pellet Plant Upgrade (Ind. Report)

In British Columbia, Vancouver-based Pinnacle Renewable Energy reports its Williams Lake facility has rebooted operations following months of capital upgrades.

The completed upgrades included equipment that can process wetter fiber. Instead of primarily relying on the shavings and sawdust of sawmills, the plant can also process up to 80,000 additional tpy of woody biomass debris, damaged and dead wood.

Between upgrades at the Williams Lake facility and the previously reported work on its Meadowbank facility in Quesnel, the company has invested roughly $30 million in the region over the past year.

$100Mn Woody Biomass Pellet Plant Slated for Alabama (Ind. Report)

In "The Heart of Dixie", Tuscaloosa-based Westervelt Co. reports it is partnering with Vancouver, B.C.-based Pinnacle Renewable Energy to construct a woody biomass-wood pellet production plant in the city of Demopolis. The 360,000 metric tpy plant is aiming for an early 2021 startup, according to a statement.

Pinnacle will reportedly hold a 70 pct stake in the plant, Westervelt will hold 20 pct and Two Rivers Lumber Co. which will supply the plant with sawmill waste for pellet production, will hold the remaining 10 pct. Pinnacle Reports Woody Biomass Fibre Supply Agreement (Ind. Report)

In British CVolumbia, Vancouver-based Pinnacle Renewable Energy is reporting a three-year fiber supply agreement with forest management company Alkali Resource Management Ltd. (ARM) under which ARM will process, store and deliver woody biomass harvest residuals to Pinnacle for use at its Williams Lake facility in British Columbia.

Pinnacle produces sustainable industrial wood pellet fuel for large-scale thermal power generators as a greener alternative to produce reliable baseload renewable power. The Company operates eight industrial wood pellet production facilities in western Canada and one in Alabama, and owns a port terminal in Prince Rupert, B.C. Pinnacle Inks Japanese, Korean Biomass Pellet Deals (Ind. Report)

Richmond, British Columbia-headquartered woody biomass pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Energy Inc is reporting a new long-term, take-or-pay off-take contracts with Mitsubishi Corporation, a global integrated business enterprise in Japan and with GS Global Corporation, a biomass power producer in that country.

Under the terms of the Mitsubishi contract, Pinnacle will supply 110,000 to 120,000 metric tpy of industrial wood pellets beginning in 2021. For the Sout hKorean contract, Pinnacle will supply 100,000 metric tpy of industrial wood pellets to GS beginning in 2022.

Pinnacle Renewable Energy is a rapidly growing industrial wood pellet manufacturer. Pinnacle Entwistle Resumes Wood Biomass Pellet Prod.(Ind Report)

Pinnacle Inks Long-Term Japanese Woody Biomass Pellet Deal (Int'l)
