Photon Offloads 160 MWp Aussie Solar PV Project (Int'l., M&A)

Amsterdam-based Photon Energy N.V. is reporting the sale of its 65 pct stake in its 160 MWp (DC) solar PV power project currently under development in New South Wales, Australia to the global renewable energy group WIRSOL. Photon Energy Group will see a capital gain in the amount of €0.5 million and another two milestone-related payments upon successful completion and commissioning of the project by WIRSOL.

Photon Energy Group plans to fully focus its future project development activities in Australia on large utility-scale projects based on the unique RayGen technology that combines PV Ultra solar co-generation and electro-thermal energy storage technologies. Since its foundation in 2008, Photon Energy has built and commissioned solar power plants with a combined capacity of over 110 MWp and has power plants with a combined capacity of 90.6 MWp in its proprietary portfolio. It is currently developing projects with a combined capacity of over 750 MWp in Australia, Hungary, Poland and Romania and provides operations and maintenance services for over 330 MWp worldwide, according to the company.

Photon to Develop 300-MW Aussie Solar+Storage Project (Int'l.)

Amsterdam-headquartered solar energy developer Photon Energy N.V reports it plans to develop a 300 MW solar project with a grid connection capacity of 150 MW and 3.6 GWh storage capacity -- equivalent to 24 hours of full load – in South Australia. The Company is currently developing multiple sites in Australia suitable for RayGen's solar technology in combination with its energy storage solution.

Photon Delivers Aussie Island Solar+Storage Project (Int'l.)

In the Land Down Under, Amsterdam, Netherlands-headquartered Photon Energy N.V. is reporting its subsidiary Photon Energy Engineering Australia Pty Ltd has completed and delivered an EPC-contracted hybrid solar PV energy project to the Lord Howe Island Board -- the management agency of Lord Howe Island, New South Wales.

The ground-mounted system, which incorporates 3,240 photovoltaic modules totaling 1.328 MWp connected to a 3.712 MWh Tesla Powerpack controlled by a Tesla Microgrid Controller, has been online and producing power for the past six months. ARENA provided $4.5 million im support of the $11.1 million (AUS) project. The Lord Howe Island Board arranged $5.9 million loan for the project and covered the balance of funds from its own capital. Photon Secures NSW Aussie Solar Farms Financing (Int’l. Report)

In Australia, Photon Energy Australia is reporting financial close on two New South Wales solar farm projects -- the Leeton and Fivebough projects with a combined capacity of 14MW.

Photon will act as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the two projects which are expected to be completed and commissioned in Q4,2020. Battery storage is expected to be added to the solar farms at some point and no PPA have yet been signed.

RayGen Touts Aussie CSP, Hydro Storage Technology (Int'l. Report)

In the Land Down Under, Melbourne-based solar power technology and renewable energy storage specialist RayGen is touting plans to develop a huge 100MW/1,000MWh concentrated solar (CSP) and hydro storage project.

RayGen's technology is currently on track to be tested at a 50MWh-scale in Victoria State with $3 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and a key partnership with Sydney-based major power generator and retailer AGL Energy Ltd.
