Fergus Falls, Minnesota-based Otter Tail Power Company reports its 150-MW, $260 million Merricourt Wind Energy Center is now operational and advancing the company to its goal of serving customers with more than 35 pct renewable energy -- 90 pct wind -- by 2023.

The Merricourt Wind Energy Center incorporates 75 Vestas wind turbines will produce enough energy to power 65,000 homes annually. EDF Renewables developed the project and local contractor Wanzek Construction built it. Fergus Falls, Minnesota-based Otter Tail Power Company and the city of Crookston are partnering with Minnesota's Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) to reduce energy use and save on energy costs. Otter Tail Power provides rebates, grants, education, and special programs to encourage individuals and businesses to use electricity wisely

According to Otter Tail Power, businesses will be able to sign up for free energy-saving LED light bulbs, linear LED lamps, vending machine controllers, and onsite energy assessments, all of which will deliver immediate bill reductions. The no cost assessments will offer detailed recommendations to help small businesses save energy and money and connects them to program and rebate options that meet their specific needs.

Fergus Falls, Minnesota-headquartered Otter Tail Power Co. reports it has issued a roughly $7,000 rebate to Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji for recently completed energy-efficient upgrades, including WiFi-enabled smart thermostats, new heat pumps and furnaces with energy-efficient motors, and others.
