ESCO's Revenues Projected Near $29Bn by 2029 (Ind. Report)
Navigant Research
Date: 2020-03-25
ESCO Global Market Analysis and Forecast, new report from Boulder, Colorado-based Navigant Research is projecting the global annual revenue for energy service companies (ESCOs) is expected to reach close to $29 billion by 2029.

According to the report, "ESCO offerings have gained recognition as a valuable way for public organizations to realize sustainability mandates while meeting operational, financial, and human capital goals. Though growth is expected to continue, it is expected to be challenging to capture due to pressure from competing energy services models and changing customer expectations." the report contends.

On the demand side, clients are becoming more sophisticated and are looking for cost-effective, customized, and comprehensive energy solutions to meet their needs beyond energy efficiency upgrades. On the supply side, energy suppliers and vendors are introducing a broader set of turnkey, portfolio-wide financial and business model options to meet emerging customer needs. According to the report, these trends require ESCOs to diversify project development efforts and develop new technology-agnostic capabilities and financing options outside of ESPC structures.

Annual Energy Efficiency Spending Expected to Hit $11.3Bn in 2028, says Navigant Report (Ind. Report)
Navigant
Date: 2019-03-06
North American Utility Energy Efficiency Program Implementation, a new report from Navigant Research analyzes the North American energy efficiency implementation market, providing market forecasts, segmented by energy sector and country, through 2028.

As the global electric power industry shifts toward a cleaner, distributed energy ecosystem , energy efficiency programs are also evolving. Electric energy efficiency in North America is moving to integrate other distributed energy resources (DER) to help ensure grid reliability, meet state and provincial efficiency requirements, and help some localities meet their emissions reduction targets or other energy goals.

According to the report, decreasing technology prices and the possibility of third-party program administration -- vendors and service providers that contract with utilities or other program administrators to manage energy efficiency programs -- are also driving energy efficiency spending. While steady growth is expected to continue through the decade, regulatory inconsistency, tight pricing margins, and a market saturation of energy efficiency technologies present challenges.

The report profiles key energy efficiency implementers and provides recommendations for both implementers and utilities looking to expand their offerings in the evolving energy efficiency space. Report details are available for free download on the Navigant Research website. E.U. Supports French Floating Wind Demo Projects (Int'l Report)

Date: 2019-02-27
The European Commission (EC) reports it will provide investment and operating aid to four French floating wind demonstration projects: the Groix Belle Ile project will be located in the Atlantic Ocean, while the other three projects (Golf du Lion, Eolmed and Provence Grand Large) will be located in the Mediterranean Sea. Each will consist of three or four turbines and have a total installed capacity of 24MW.

The demonstration wind farms will receive both .

Earlier this year, the U.S. DOE announced up to $28 million in funding for a new floating offshore wind turbines via the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) program, Aerodynamic Turbines, Lighter and Afloat, with Nautical Technologies and Integrated Servo-control (ATLANTIS).

Navigant Research anticipates that over 69GW of new offshore wind capacity will be installed between 2018 and 2027, exceeding 100GW of operating capacity by 2030. (Source: EC, MarEx, 25 Feb., 2019)
