Antigua-Barbuda Ink Minesto Ocean Energy MoU (Intl Report)

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda are reporting the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Gothenburg, Sweden-based marine energy developer Minesto AB to supply renewable energy to the Eastern Caribbean.
Under the MoU,
Minesto AB will collaborate with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Antigua and Barbuda Science and Innovation Park on a feasibility study of the use of Minesto's Deep Green technology to provide energy in the Caribbean.
In January 2019, UNOPS opened its first science and innovation center in Antigua and Barbuda to support national and regional innovation in the fields of science and technology.

Tidal Energy Kites Planned for Faroe Islands (Int'l Report)

Further to our August 15th coverage, Swedish marine energy developer Minesto AB reports it has entered into an agreement with electric utility SEV for the installation of two DG100 tidal energy converters in the waters surrounding the Faroe Islands, in he North Atlantic.
SEV will provide the infrastructure for the grid-connected project, and purchase the output of the two subsea kite devices under long term PPA. Installation of both devices is to be completed in 2020.
The project will be funded through a mix of equity and resources from Minesto and SEV, plus public funding grants.
The Faroe Islands

Minesto Tidal Kite Aces Commissioning Tests (Int'l Report)

Gotherberg, Sweden-headquartered tidal energy company Minesto AB is reporting the successful initial commissioning sea trials of its Deep Green subsea kite technology off Holyhead, North West Wales.
The commissioning programme of the company's first commercial-scale project -- a 0.5-MW DG500 tidal energy converter installed at the site -- was initiated early in July.
According to the company, it will mow proceed with the commissioning programme to achieve flying full subsea trajectories and verify the power take-off system and electricity generation.
Minesto is a marine energy is a spin-off from Swedish aerospace manufacturer Saab.
