Lightsource bp Snares 703MW Spanish Solar Portfilio (M&A, Int'l.)

London-headquartered solar energy developer Lightsource bp is reporting acquisition three solar projects totaling 703MW in Aragon, Spain from Zaragosa-based Grupo Jorge. The projects include two in Zaragoza (292MW and 130MW) and the third (281MW) in the Huesca province, which Lightsource bp will bring to construction next year. This deal also builds on Lightsource bp's growing presence in Aragon specifically with around 1.1GW of projects at various stages of development or construction and in operation.

This Spanish acquisition brings Lightsource bp's Spanish project development pipeline to over 3GW, which has been mainly established this year through co-development partnerships with RIC Energy and Iberia Solar. Lightsource BP Secures $330Mn for Aussie Solar Projects (Int'l.)

London-headquartered Lightsource bp, a global leader in the development and management of solar energy projects, is reporting closing on a $330 million (AUS) financing package and begun construction on its West Wyalong and Woolooga solar projects located in New South Wales and Queensland, Australia. Financing for the projects was secured from EDC, ING, Intesa Sanpaolo and Westpac.

Combined, West Wyalong and Woolooga will produce approximately 673GWh of renewable electricity a year -- sufficient power for 100,000 Australian homes and cut carbon emissions by 540,000 metric tpy. The projects are expected to come online in mid-2022.

Queensland is aiming to have 50 pct of energy generation from renewable sources by 2030 and New South Wale has pledged to construct 12GW of clean energy over the next ten years. LightsourceBP Announces €900Mn INSUN Investment (Int'l)

In London, renewables group LightsourceBP reports it will invest €900 million ($1.1 billion) in solar energy specialist INSUN Power to fund the development of utility-scale solar projects totaling 1.35 GW in Moura, Castelo Branco, Mogadouro, Chamusca and Viseu, Portugal. The five projects are currently in the early development stage.

Lightsource bp Ads 845 MW Spanish Solar Portfolio (Int'l., M&A)

In the UK, London-based solar energy developer and manager Lightsource bp is reporting acquisition of an 845 MW solar portfolio in Spain from Madrid-headquartered Iberia Solar, a portfolio company of Asterion Industrial Partners.

Lightsource bp and Iberia Solar will work in partnership to bring the project pipeline, which consists of five sites across the regions of Castilla la Mancha and Castilla y Leon, to "shovel-ready" status. Lightsource bp will then lead the projects to financial close and begin construction in 2022. Lightsource BP Nails 300-MW Solar Farm Financing (Ind. Report)

Lightsource BP reports it has closed on $285-million financing round for its 300-MW Bighorn Solar project which is underway in Pueblo, Colorado.

The project will incorporate 750,000 Canadian Solar crystalline PV panels mounted on NEXTracker single-axis trackers and is expected to come online in late 2021. Kansas Johnson Corner Solar Project Now Online (Ind. Report)

In Kansas, Sunflower Electric Power Corp. and Lightsource BP are reporting the 20-MW, $37 million Johnson Corner Solar Project in Stanton County has begun commercial operation. The project was financed and constructed by San Francisco-based Lightsource BP.

100 pct of the project's power generation is being sold under a 25-year PPA to Sunflower, a nonprofit electric utility providing wholesale generation and transmission services to six member-owners serving in central and western Kansas. The National Renewables Cooperative Organization (NRCO) played a key role in developing the project. Conway Corp, Lightsource BP ink 132-MW PPA (Ind. Report)

In Arkansas, the city-owned utility Conway Corp is reporting a 20-year PPA with Lightsource BP for the development of a 132 MWdc solar energy project roughly 60 miles from Little Rock. Lightsource BP will finance, construct, own and operate the facility and will deliver the solar energy it generates to Conway Corp under the fixed-rate power purchase agreement. The project is expected to generate sufficient power for about 24,400 homes. Lightsource BP Orders 1.2 GW of Canadian Solar Modules (Int'l.)

UK oil and gas giant BP-backed Lightsource BP reports ordering 1.2 GW of Guelph, Ontario-based Canadian Solar Solutions Inc. modules for various, un-named photovoltaic (PV) projects in the US and Australia.

The order calls for the delivery of bifacial polycrystalline PERC modules, of the BiHiKu (CS3W-PB-AG) type, which, according to Canadian Solar, enhance power production when installed in a limited area and "dramatically" cut the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) of the solar plant. The high-power HiKu (CS3W-P) modules are also part of the deal.

British energy, oil and gas giant BP is reporting it will increase its stake to a 50-50 joint venture position in UK-based solar developer Lightsource BP, originally known as Lightsource Renewable Energy.

BP acquired a 43 pct stake equity share in Lightsource in 2017 for $200 million over three years, and the company was then relabelled Lightsource BP. Lightsource's Penn State Solar Installation Underway (Ind. Report)

Following up on our 19th August report, Lightsource BP reports it has broken ground on a 70-MW solar project for Penn State University that will be installed across three locations, encompassing approximately 500 acres in Franklin County, outside of Chambersburg, and near Penn State's Mont Alto campus in Pennsylvania.

Lightsource BP will finance, construct, own and operate the three solar arrays, with Penn State purchasing all of the electricity generated under a 25-year PPA. The project is expected to save Penn State a minimum of $14 million over the contract term, while meeting 25 pct of the university's power requirements. Lighthouse BP to Install Penna.'s Largest Solar Array (Ind. Report)

Penn State University is reporting Lightsource BP, a London, UK-based solar company with an office in Philadelphia, is leasing a total of 500 acres of land in Franklin County for a utility-scale 150,000-panel solar array for the largest solar installation in the Keystone State.

The 70-MW solar array will sell its power to Pennsylvania State University, providing 25 pct of the university's electrical needs for all its campuses. Penn State Planning 70-MW Solar Array (Ind. Report)

Penn State University is reporting up to a quarter of statewide energy needs will be supplied from a planned solar farm in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

The 70-MW project outside Chambersburg will cover 500 acres on three locations and is being developed in partnership with Lightsource BP. The 150,000 ground-mounted panel array is targeted for completion in July. 2020, according to the release.
