Infigen Wind Project Installing 25MW Tesla Battery (Int'l)

In the Land Down Under, Infigen Energy reports its 278.5MW Lake Bonney wind facility will install a 25MW Tesla grid-scale battery energy storage system in South Australia. According to Infigen Energy, the energy storage capacity will play a crucial role in stabilizing the surrounding region's grid with its flexibility services.

Infigen has secured project funding agreements with the South Australian government and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) worth around $38 (AUS) million. South Australia is home to the world's largest battery -- a 100MW system at the Hornsdale wind farm. 113-MW Aussie Wind Farm Begins Power Production (Int'l Report)

In the Land Down Under, Infigen Energy reports it has generated its first power from its 113.2-MW Bodangora Wind Farm Near the city of Wellington, in New South Wales and delivered the electricity to the national wholesale market. The company is expecting additional turbines to be installed and commissioned machines to be commissioned within the next few weeks.

The Bodangora project will incorporate 33 General Electric 3.43-MW turbines totaling approximately 361 GWh per year. The project also has a long-term maintenance and service contract with GE.

The project is being built by GE and Australian builder Civil & Allied Technical Construction (CATCON). When fully operational, the wind farm will generate sufficient power for as many as 49,000 households each year. Aussie Energy Storage Tender Attracts 19 Expressions of Interest (Int'l)

In the Land Down Under, 19 companies have reportedly responded with proposals to a 25 MW -- 45 MW battery energy storage system request for expressions of interest (EoI) in Northern Australia.

Northern Territory's state-owned power company Territory Generation announced the call for the Darwin - Katherine Alternative Energy Storage System Project earlier in January. It will be accepting proposals for different configurations with at least 30 minutes of storage in the third quarter of 2018.

The respondents include Tesla Inc., Alstom Grid Australia, Infigen Energy, Mitsui & Co Australia, Carnegie Clean Energy, Energy Made Clean and other Australian and foreign firms. (Source: ABC Australia, Various Media, Jan., 2018)


Infigen Advances 113 MW New Zealand Wind Farm (Int'l Report)

Australian renewable enrgy specialist Infigen Energy reports it has reached financial closure and is proceeding with construction of its wholly owned 113.2 MW Bodangora wind farm near Wellington, New Zealand. The $236 million project will be funded from a $163 million construction facility provided by NORD/LB and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and $74 million1 of equity from Infigen. The project has a PPA with EnergyAustralia for 60 pct of its power production until 2030.

Bodangora wind farm will be built by a consortium comprising General Electric (GE) and civil-engineering construction company Civil & Allied Technical Construction (CATCON) under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. Infigen will provide the equity funding and will operate the wind farm once completed.
