Neste Reports Finnair Aviation Biofuel Partnership (Int'l. Report)
Neste,Finnair
Date: 2020-03-06
Helsinki-headquartered air carrier Finnair and Neste, the world's largest producer of renewable diesel and renewable jet fuel refined from waste and residues, are reporting an agreement that will see Finnair gradually increase its use of Neste SAF in its operations and play a key role in Finnair's long-term target of carbon neutrality.

The partnership will not only increase Finnair's use of SAF, but it will also boost the production of SAF in Finland. Growing availability is also important in order to make SAF more widely used and affordable for Finnair's future flight operations. Finnish Airline Fine-Tunes Emissions Offset Scheme (Int'l. Report)
Finniar
Date: 2020-03-02
Finland's national airline Finnair reports it is adjusting its voluntary "Push for Change" emissions offset and biofuel programmes which to date have offset nearly 6,900 tonnes of CO2.

Going forward, instead of being voluntary, the company's carbon offset and biofuel purchase schemes will be sold to customers as they order tickets. The cost of offsetting a round trip domestic flight was €1 while European and international return flights cost €2 and €6 respectively.

The collected funds support emissions reduction projects in Mozambique, Africa through the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (Nefco), a financial institution founded by governments of the five Nordic countries in 1990. The funds are applied to the purchase of biofuels and emissions reductions projects which support the use of fuel efficient stoves in Mozambique, according to the company. Finnair,SkyNRG
Date: 2019-08-07
Finnair reports it's first biofuel flights -- August 5th and 7th from Sanfrancisco to Helsinki -- backed by its "Push for Change" carbon decreasing initiative. The flights were fueled with a 12 pct biofuel mix reducing the total C02 emissions for the two flights by approximately 32 tons.

Finnair's biofuels partners in San Francisco are SkyNRG and World Energy; Shell Aviation has provided logistics and supply chain support for the project. The sustainable biofuel was produced from used cooking oil in California. Additional information on Finnair’s Push for Change initiative, including the options to purchase biofuel for future flights as well as the offsetting of carbon emissions through certified projects, can be found on Finnair.com's "Push for hange" site. Finnair Customer Carbon Offsetting Scheduled for Take Off (Int'l)
Finnair
Date: 2018-07-30
Reporting from Helsinki, Filand's national aircarrier Finnair reports it will launch a new green initiative, enabling customers to contribute to biofuel or carbon capture initiatives when purchasing a ticket. The optional scheme will launch in 2019, with passengers able to choose between making a contribution towards biofuel, which will be blended and used on a future flight, or donating a sum of their choice to support carbon captures.

Finnair notes its research showed that 94 pct of Finns wanted to reduce their air travel emissions, with 76 pct willing to make a contribution towards this as part of their air fare for environmental initiatives. On average, most Finnair passengers were prepared to pay between €5 and €20 additional for a one-way flight within Europe. (Source: Finnair, 27 July 2018) Contact: Finnair, www.finnair.com
