APS Plans 850MW Solar Battery Storage (Ind. Report)
Arizona Public Service
Date: 2019-02-25
US-based electric utility Arizona Public Service (APS) is planning to add battery storage to its fleet of solarpower plants, as well as build solar facilities with storage. As part of the initiative, the company plans to add 850MW of battery storage and at least 100MW of new solar generation by 2025.

Large-scale solar plants owned by APS across the state will be upgraded with 200MW of battery storage systems. A team from Invenergy, an Illinois-based energy company will install six new battery systems at solar plants in Maricopa County and Yuma by 2020, with the balance to be complete by 2021. The utility is also planning to construct 500MW of solar storage and standalone battery storage by 2025 as part of its long-term clean-energy transition objective.
