EESL, Indian Hotel Chaine Ink Energy Efficiency MoU (Int'l.)

In New Delhi, India's state-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is reporting a MoU with Lemon Tree Hotels Limited for the 3-year implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation measures at a selected number of hotel properties in India .

EESL and its subsidiary companies Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and EPSL Trigeneration will complete the projects which are aimed at improving the energy efficiency and cutting energy consumption of the hotels chain's various properties and reducing the company's overall carbon footprint. EESL, ISHRAE Partner for Indian HVAC Energy Efficiency (Int'l.)

In New Delhi, India state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) reports it is partnering with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Engineers (ISHRAE) to develop and implement energy efficiency and clean energy solutions in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) space.

Under this association, EESL and ISHRAE will establish committees and task forces to address specific areas requiring joint participation for the promotion of energy efficient low carbon technologies in cooling & heating and in the cold chain sector, including transportation. The partners will also work on District Energy Systems including awareness & adoption, training, and capacity building programmes for Refrigerator and Air Conditioning (RAC) technicians engaged in original equipment manufacturing (OEM), channel partners or independent service centres.

EESL is a "Super Energy Service Company" (ESCO) seeking to advance the Indian energy efficiency market. It acts as the resource center for capacity building of State Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), State Development Authorities (SDAs), upcoming Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), financial institutions, etc. (Source: EESL. GORD, EESL Cooperating on MENA Energy Efficiency (Int'l.Report)

In Qatar, the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions leading "green" buildings, sustainability and energy efficiency services provider, is reporting a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India's state-controlled Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to collaborate on and support local and regional energy efficiency projects in the Middle East.

The MoU includes the deployment of large-scale smart metering systems, electric vehicle charging, energy efficient lighting sustainable and energy efficient HVAC systems, renewable energy projects, and consulting on sustainability and variou carbon neutral projects. India's EESL Investing in UK Energy Efficiency Market (Int'l.)

Indian Healthy, Energy Efficient Bldgs Initiative Launched (Int'l.)

Indian state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) are reporting the launch of the Healthy and Energy Efficient Buildings initiative aimed at retrofitting existing buildings and air conditioning systems for better health conditions and increased energy efficiency.

As part of the initiative, EESL will develop specifications for Indian building energy as well as aid in evaluating the effectiveness and cost benefits of various technologies and their short and long-term impacts on air quality, comfort, and energy consumption.

A recent PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC Ltd) report noted that various Indian energy efficiency measures have translated into approximate savings of Rs 89,122 crore ($890,000 US) in 2018-19, as against Rs 53,627 crore ($530,000 US) savings during 2017-18. NORESC, Keesler AFB Ink Energy Savings Contract (Ind. Report)

Westborough, Mass.-based energy efficiency specialist NORESCO reports it is implementing self-funding facility improvements at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) in Biloxi, Mississippi, through a $32.7 million guaranteed energy savings performance contract (ESPC).

The project, contracted through DLA Energy and in collaboration with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, will help the base advance resiliency, security and renewable energy usage while reducing deferred maintenance and energy costs.

The scope of work includes: a 1.5MW solar photovoltaic (PV) array; chiller plant optimization controls; outdated building controls replacement; installation of 30,000 LED light fixtures; and others. The project also includes oversight of the controls and maintenance of the PV array throughout the contract term. India's EESL Raised $800 Mn for Energy Efficiency Services (Int'l)

In New Delhi, Indian state owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) reports it has raised its first long-term rupee loan of Rs 500 crore (1 crore = $160,000/- 500 crores = $800,000,000) from the government owned Punjab National Bank (PNB). The funds will be earmarked for EESL's national energy efficient street lighting programme, smart meter programme, solar substation and e-mobility projects, according to a press statement.

In other recent EESL news, in March, 2018, the company's UK subsidiary EnergyPro Assets acquired British power generation solutions provider Edina UK Ltd for £55 million (Rs 493 crore). In May, 2018, EESL received a $300 million loan from the World Bank for residential and public sector energy efficiency projects. ADB Commits $13Mn to Indian Energy Efficiency Fund (Int'l)

In the Sub-Continent, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) reports it will grant $13 million to Indian government-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to establish an energy efficiency revolving fund. The fund is intended to sustain and expand energy efficiency investments, build market diversification, and scale up existing energy efficiency technologies in India.
