Canadian Solar Touts Alberta PV Solar Power Agreement (Ind. Report)

Guelph, Ontario-headquartered solar power specialist Canadian Solar Inc. is reporting an agreement with Centrica PLC subsidiary Direct Energy for the purchase of electricity from its 32 MWp/23 MWac Suffield solar facility in Southeastern Alberta. The Suffield solar facility is anticipated to be the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Alberta when fully operational in 2020.

The Suffield project will incorporate Canadian Solar's high efficiency BiKu bifacial solar modules that produce electricity from both sides of the solar panel as well as single-axis trackers,

As previously reported, the Suffield project received $15.3 million in funding through Natural Resources Canada's Emerging Renewable Power Program. NYSERDA Selects Direct for Energy Management Program (Ind. Report)

Qualified Real Time Energy Management (RTEM) vendor Direct Energy reports it has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for its Panoramic Power technology program. NYSERDA's RTEM program supports the installation of energy systems and information services that collect energy usage data that can be used to optimize a building's energy consumption.

Direct Energy Business will work with customers throughout the program's process including project scoping, submission of the NYSERDA application and installation. Direct Energy Business will also provide real time energy monitoring and quarterly reports. Eligible buildings include office buildings, health care facilities, and state and local governments. NYSERDA has dedicated $30 million to this program and it will be open until June 2021, or until all funds have been allocated.
