Minn. CERTs Announces Energy Efficiency Grants (Funding)
Minnesota Clean Energy Resource Team

In Minneapolis, Minnesota Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) reports it is awarding Seed Grants to 35 innovative renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in communities statewide.

The 35 projects received funding across a broad spectrum of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies including LED energy efficient lighting, components of energy education, outreach, community building, R&D and others.

These awards mark the tenth round of Seed Grants from CERTs, totalling over $1.3 million to 393 projects since 2006. Otter Tail Power, Crookston Promoting Energy Efficiency (Ind. Report)

Fergus Falls, Minnesota-based Otter Tail Power Company and the city of Crookston are partnering with Minnesota's Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) to reduce energy use and save on energy costs. Otter Tail Power provides rebates, grants, education, and special programs to encourage individuals and businesses to use electricity wisely

According to Otter Tail Power, businesses will be able to sign up for free energy-saving LED light bulbs, linear LED lamps, vending machine controllers, and onsite energy assessments, all of which will deliver immediate bill reductions. The no cost assessments will offer detailed recommendations to help small businesses save energy and money and connects them to program and rebate options that meet their specific needs.

Xcel, Winona Partner on Business Energy Improvement (Ind. Report)

In Minnesota, the city of Winona and Xcel Energy report they are working with Minnesota's Clean Energy Resource Teams to reach 100 downtown businesses with information on ways to cut energy consumption and save on energy costs. The door-to-door campaign aims to share information on the energy efficiency options such as rebates and incentives available to the city's businesses.

As part of the effort, businesses can sign up for free energy audits available through the Chamber of Commerce Energy Smart program later in March. The audits provide detailed recommendations for saving energy and money, and connect business owners to utility program and rebate options to meet their needs.

The information campaign is part of a continuing partnership with Xcel to encourage the use of renewable energy, cut energy consumption and to reduce the community's energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by 15 pct over the next decade. Since starting their plan, the city of Winona and Xcel have concentrated on residential energy use and implemented programs to improve the efficiency of qualifying households. Minn. Clean Energy Resource Team Grants Issued (Ind. Report)

Following up on our October 20, 217 coverage, Minnesota's Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERT) have announced 39 renewables and energy efficiency-related seed grant awards to organizations across Minnesota. Each region was awarded approximately $20,000. Funded project included solar energy, LED lighting, energy efficiency and audit equipment, and others.

MN CERTs Offers Clean Energy, Energy Efficiency Funding (Funding)

In Minnesota, Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) reports the availability of community clean energy and energy efficiency projects statewide. Since itis founding, CERTS has awarded more than $1 million to over 270 community clean energy and energy efficiency projects. CERTS project funding is provided through the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Energy Resources.
