Following up on our Nov. 1st coverage, Calgary, Alberta-based BHE Canada reports the signing of a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) to provide 26, 5.0 MW wind turbines for the proposed Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Power Project in southeast Alberta.

The Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Power Project is being privately financed by BHE Canada through a combination of equity and debt and requires no government subsidies or tax incentives to support its operation.

The project is expected to provide approximately 150 jobs at peak construction during the approximately 18-month schedule. Construction activities are ongoing, with almost $12 million already invested in local Alberta contractors and suppliers. Total investment in the County of Forty Mile is expected to be approximately $56 million.

BHE Canada has signed a long-term PPA with a large Canadian corporate partner for approximately two-thirds of the energy output from the Rattlesnake Ridge Wind project. BHE Canada continues to negotiate with potential partners for the remaining one-third. The more than $200 million project is scheduled to be in service in early 2022. BHE Seeks Rattlesnake Ridge Wind AUC Approvals (Ind Report)

Calgary, Alberta-based BHE Canada, through its subsidiary BHE Canada Rattlesnake GP Inc.,reports the filing of a facility application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for the construction and connection to the grid of its proposed $200 million, 28-turbine, 117.6 MW Rattlesnake Ridge Wind project in Medicine Hat. The project will generate approximately 475 GWh of energy per year -- sufficient 79,000 homes.

Pending AUC approvals, construction of the wind farm could get underway in Q4, 2020 with completion before December, 2021. Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary Calgary-based BHE Canada is reportedly set to break ground on its $200 million, 117.6-MW Rattlesnake Ridge Wind project southwest of Medicine Hat, Alberta. U.K.-based Renewable Energy Systems.

When fully operational, the facility is expected to generate sufficient electric power for 79,000 homes. An unnamed large Canadian corporate partner has inked a long-term PPA for the majority of the Rattlesnake Ridge energy output, according to the BHE Canada release.
