Worley Tapped for Aemetis Carbon Zero Plant (Ind. Report)

Following up on our 30th April report, Cupertino, California-based renewable natural gas (RNG), renewable fuel and biochemicals specialist Aemetis, Inc. reports it has awarded an engineering services contract to Worley for the Aemetis Carbon Zero renewable jet and diesel plant in Riverbank, California.

The Aemetis Carbon Zero renewable jet and diesel project is designed to "hydrotreat" renewable oils with hydrogen from orchard and forest wood waste. By utilizing hydroelectric electricity and carbon sequestration along with negative carbon intensity hydrogen, the Aemetis plant is expected to produce among the lowest carbon intensity renewable jet and diesel fuel in the world.

Worley is providing engineering to implement Axens renewable jet and diesel technology at the Riverbank site. Axens's technology hydrotreats a wide range of lipids to produce low-density and high cetane renewable diesel and renewable sulphur-free jet fuel. The Axens technology produces renewable jet and renewable diesel in an integrated process. Repsol Taps Axens Vegan® for Advanced Biofuels Plant (Int'l.)

Following up on our Oct. 28th coverage, Madrid-based Repsol has selected Axens Vegan® technology for its first advanced biofuels production plant in Cartegena, Spain.

The new plant is expected to come in at $222.3 million and produce 250,000 tpy of biodiesel, biojet fuel, bionaphtha and biopropane while enabling a reduction of 900 000 tpy of CO2, according to the release.

Axens's technology hydrotreats a wide range of lipids to produce low-density and high cetane renewable diesel and renewable sulphur-free jet fuel. Axens Providing Cellulosic Ethanol Tech in Croatia (Int'l Report)

Rueil Malmaison, France-headquartered Axens is reporting a licensing agreement with Craotian oil and gas company INA to supply its Futurol™ cellulosic ethanol technology and contract for basic engineering design of a cellulosic bioethanol production plant in Sisak, Croatia.

The plant will use ignocellulosic feedstocks such as agricultural residues and energy crop Miscanthus to produce 70 million lpy of bioethanol.

INA manages a regional network of 445 petrol stations in Croatia and neighboring countries. Anellotech Announces Commercial Bio-TCat Progress (Ind. Report)

Pearl River, New York-based renewable chemicals, bioplastics and fuels from non-food biomass producer Anellotech is confirming progress in its Bio-TCat technology development program . The company is planning to scale-up design and engineering of a commercial plant with its process development and design partner IFPEN and commercialization, engineering, and licensing partner Axens.

Anellotech's patented Bio-TCat thermal-catalytic technology produces a mixture of benzene, toluene and xylene (BTX) which can be used in the production of polymers such as polyester, polycarbonate, and nylon, or high-octane gasoline blendstock. The company notes that co-product gas streams from Bio-TCat can be used to make significant amounts of renewable electricity, hydrogen or cellulosic ethanol using third party technologies.
