BioStim Touts "Electromagnetic Biostimulation" (New Prod & Tech)
AlgaStar
Date: 2020-11-09
Gulf Breeze, Florida-based biomass cultivation and R&D specialist AlgaStar Inc. reports its wholly-owned New Mexico-based subsidiary BioStim's patented "electromagnetic biostimulation" research may result in creating more than a 300 pct biomass growth increase and 174 pct increase in lipid oil content in several alga samples over controlled growth conditions.
BioStim is leading a consortium of small businesses as a part of a New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) program which allows local small businesses to work with scientists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to map the conditions under which biostimulation enhances the growth rate and metabolism for several biological cultures involving algae and bacteria by means of microwave energy for use in the future development of alternative biofuels production and other applications.
AlgaStar Inc. and its participants won a $1 million Florida state, 20-month, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient Technologies (REET) research grant in 2018. Participants included Florida A & M University , NASA at Kennedy Space Center, and ARA, a leading US R& D/engineering firm.
