Aemetis India Expands Revenues to $50Mn Per Year Run Rate (Int'l)

Following up on our 22nd May coverage, Cupertino, California-based advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals specialist Aemetis, Inc. reports its Universal Biofuels India subsidiary in Hydrbad ramped revenues to over $50 million per year run rate after biodiesel shipments commenced in May -- pursuant to a previously announced $23 million biodiesel supply contract to the three India government-owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMC's).

In late 2018, the three India OMC's that supply about 70 pct of the country's domestic diesel issued purchase requests for about 260 million gallons of biodiesel for year 2019 -- equal to India's total biodiesel production capacity.

As previously reported, the Aemetis biodiesel plant in India recently completed the installation and commissioning of a pre-treatment plant and related utilities upgrades to convert lower cost, waste feedstocks into high quality distilled biodiesel to supply the approximately 25 billion gallon diesel market in India. Aemetis India Touts Monthly Domestic Biodiesel Revenue (Int'l)

Aemetis Inks Indian Biodiesel Supply Deal (Ind. Report)

Aemetis Universal Biofuels India, a subsidiary of Cupertino, California-headquartered advanced renewable fuel and biochemical specialist Aemetis Inc. , reports it will supply 25 million or more US gpy of distilled biodiesel to an unnamed multi-site mining company with sites in southern and central India .

Shipments have already started, and there are plans to expand the deal to additional mines as it installs on-site storage for biodiesel.

Aemetis owns and operates a 60-million gpy ethanol production facility in California's Central Valley. It also has a 50-million-gpy renewable chemical and advanced fuel production facility on the east coast of India for production of high-quality distilled biodiesel and refined glycerin for US, European and Indian customers. Aemetis Scores Indian Mining Co. Biodiesel Contract (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-headquartered biodiesel producer Aemetis Inc. is reporting its Universal Biofuels India subsidiary was awarded a large ongoing supply contract for distilled biodiesel by a multi-site mining company for use in dump trucks and other heavy diesel equipment at mines in southern and central India. Shipments have already begun to the mining customer under the supply agreement and will be expanded to additional mines as on-site biodiesel storage is installed.

USDA Commits to $125Mn Aemetis Riverbank Biorefinery (Funding)

Following up on our 24th January coverage, Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, Inc. is reporting the USDA has issued a Conditional Commitment under the 9003 Biorefinery Assistance Program to guarantee a $125 million, 20-year loan to company's cellulosic ethanol plant to be built in Riverbank, California. The Riverbank plant is designed to convert orchard, forest and other biomass waste into cellulosic ethanol with below zero carbon emissions.

The Riverbank biorefinery project recently won a $12 million California state tax waiver and a $5 million California Energy Commission Notice of Proposed Award. Preliminary engineering for the project has been completed and construction is expected to get underway in mid-2019. Aemetis Biofinery USCIS EB-5 Phase II Approved (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-headquartered Aemetis, Inc. reports the US Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) has issued an I-924 Exemplar Approval for its $50 million EB-5 Phase II funding related to the Aemetis Riverbank cellulosic biorefinery project in California.

Three EB-5 investors filed with the USCIS and funded $1.5 million to the Aemetis project in December 2018 to launch the $50 million EB-5 Phase II funding round. I-924 Exemplar Approval allows foreign investors to utilize project approval for faster EB-5 processing

The Aemetis Riverbank cellulosic biorefinery is designed to produce below zero carbon biofuels from agricultural waste that could otherwise be burned in the Central Valley. Aemetis' Indian Plant Capacity Expansion Completed (Ind. Report)

Following up on our 23rd March, 2018 coverage, Cupertino, California-based Aemetis Inc. is reporting its Universal Biofuels subsidiary has completed a two-year upgrade of its biodiesel and glycerin plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India.

The work included a pre-treatment unit to process low-cost and low-waste feed stock into oil, the expansion of a boiler, and an environmental systems to enable the production of 50 million gpy of biodiesel and bio-oil while simultaneously operating the biodiesel, pre-treatment and glycerin refining units. At full capacity, the plant is expected to be able to refine approximately 5 million gpy of glycerin.

The Indian Government is seeking to increase domestic biodiesel consumption from the present 1 pct biodiesel blend to 5 pct of the total petroleum diesel consumption. To that end, the government reduced the Goods & Services Tax (GST) on biodiesel from 18 pct to 12 pct to support the industry. In the Golden State, Cupertino-headquartered advanced renewable fuel and biochemical specialist Aemetis Inc. reports its subsidiary, Aemetis Biogas LLC, has closed a $30 million equity investment and funded the first $8.3 million tranche to Aemetis Biogas to construct, own and operate dairy biomethane digesters, pipelines and gas cleanup/compression facilities primarily under 20-year agreements with a dozen dairy farm operations in California. The equity funding was provided by Protair-X Americas, an environmental investment unit of Protair-X Technologies in Canada.

Aemetis Riverbank Biorefinery Touted World's #1 Waste-to-Value Project (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, Inc. reports that the publication Biofuels Digest has awarded the Aemetis cellulosic ethanol facility under development at the Riverbank site in California as the "#1 Waste-to-Value Project in the world." The Aemetis facility earned its #1 project ranking as a result of its low cost contracted inputs, high value outputs, proven process technology and a planned $125 million USDA guaranteed loan. The facility was ranked above high profile and funded advanced biofuels projects including those developed by Fulcrum, Red Rock, Clariant, Poet and Enerkem.

Biofuels Digest noted that the Aemetis Riverbank project combines the best technology from leading technology providers LanzaTech and InEnTec with the local availability of waste orchard wood and other feedstock that can be used to produce Aemetis' high value cellulosic ethanol and valuable byproducts.

Aemetis Completes Advanced Biodiesel Pre-Treatment Unit (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, Inc. reports its Universal Biofuels subsidiary in India has completed construction of an advanced biodiesel pre-treatment unit in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, to process the low-cost feedstocks to be provided to the 50-million gpy plant under a BP Singapore Pte Limited (BPS) supply agreement into low carbon high-quality distilled biodiesel.

The new pre-treatment unit allows the use of high Free Fatty Acid waste feedstocks while meeting the biodiesel quality standards set by international fuel standards.

The advanced biodiesel pre-treatment unit was built to supply biodiesel to the EU and US under the three-year supply agreement signed with BPS in May of 2017. Aemetis Validates Cellulosic Demo Plant Yields (Ind. Report)

Following up on our 12 March coverage, Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, Inc. reports Leidos Engineering has validated Aemetis' subsidiary, Aemetis Advanced Products Keyes Inc. ethanol and protein yields produced from the operation of its integrated demonstration unit (IDU) at InEnTec's Technology Center in Richland, Washington.

Aemetis continuously operated its gas fermentation process for over 120 days, meeting the requirements for a USDA 9003 Biorefinery Assistance Program guaranteed loan. The IDU proved out a yield of 77 gallons of cellulosic ethanol per ton of biomass.

Using adjusted engineering models and subsequent results from the IDU, Leidos engineers expect the yield from the IDU to translate to commercial yields of approximately 96 gallons of cellulosic ethanol per ton of biomass at Aemetis' planned 12 million gpy commercial facility in Riverbank, California. Aemetis' Riverbank Cellulosic Ethanol Plant Progressing (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, Inc. reports its Buffalo, New York-headquartered engineering firm ATSI has completed front-end loading (FEL) engineering work for its 12 million gpy cellulosic ethanol plant in Riverbank, CA. The integrated gas fermentation facility at the Riverbank plant combines LanzaTech's gas fermentation technology with InEnTec's arc furnace gasification technology.

Aemetis Touts Cellulosic Ethanol Demo Success (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-headquartered advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals producer Aemetis, Inc. is reporting the completion and and operated of an integrated demonstration unit for more than 120 days of continuous operations with 94% uptime, meeting the requirements for a USDA 9003 Biorefinery Assistance Program guaranteed loan.

In partnership with its key technology providers InEnTec and LanzaTech, Aemetis optimized the integration of an advanced arc furnace and gas fermentation technologies to convert waste biomass into low carbon, renewable cellulosic ethanol and fish meal. The unit was built at the InEnTec Technology Center in Richland, Washington and demonstrated the fully integrated system, including biomass handling, gasification, gas clean up, waste treatment and distillation systems. With a 20-year feedstock supply agreement and a 55-year lease already signed, the 12 million gpy Riverbank plant is expected to begin operations in 2019.

CIBC Atlantic Trust Invests in Aemetis Inc (Ind. Report)

According to its SEC filing, Atlanta-based CIBC Atlantic Trust Group LLC has purchased 1,468,507 shares of Cupertino, California-based specialty chemicals producer Aemetis tock, Atlantic Trust Group LLC owned 7.41% of Aemetis at the end of the most recent reporting period.

With the purchase, institutional investors now hold almost 18 pct of Aemetis' stock, according to Zacks.

Aemetis Inks Cellulosic Ethanol Feedstock Supply Deal (Ind. Report)

Following on our Oct. 20th coverage, Cupertino, California-headquartered Aemetis, Inc. reports its subsidiary Aemetis Advanced Products Keyes has inked a 20 year feedstock supply agreement to cellulosic ethanol production at a former US Army munitions facility in Riverbank, California, which is near the existing Aemetis biofuels plant in Keyes, California. Aemetis holds a 55-year lease on the Riverbank site where it plans to produce cellulosic ethanol.

Under the agreement, Aemetis Advanced Products Keyes will supply more than 1.6 million tpy of waste orchard wood and nutshells generated from approximately 1 million acres of almond, walnut, and pistachio orchards in California's Central Valley. Aemetis' price of the feedstock is approximately $20 per ton delivered for the first ten years.

Aemetis Expanding Cellulosic Ethanol Capacity in Cal. (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-based advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals specialist Aemetis, Inc. reports its subsidiary Aemetis Advanced Products in Keyes, California has inked a 55 year lease at a former US Army munitions facility located in Riverbank, California which is near the existing Aemetis biofuels plant in Keyes, California.

The lease provides for the construction of a cellulosic ethanol biorefinery using patented and proprietary process technologies developed by Aemetis, Lanzatech, and InEnTec to convert waste orchard wood and nutshells which are presently burned,into low carbon cellulosic ethanol. Aemetis plans to produce more than 10 million gpy of cellulosic ethanol annually to help meet cellulosic ethanol production requirements under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard and the increasing demand for low carbon biofuels under California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard. The current market price of cellulosic ethanol sold in California is estimated to be more than $4.50 per gallon, approximately $3.00 per gallon more than conventional ethanol.

Aemetis Risks Loosing NASDAQ Listing (Ind. Report)

NASDAQ reports that on October 5, 2017, its Listing Qualifications Department advised Cupertino, California-headquartered Aemetis, Inc. that based upon the closing bid price of the Company's common stock for the last 30 consecutive business days, the Company did not meet the minimum bid price of $1.00 per share required for continued listing on The Nasdaq Global Market. Aemetis will have 180 calendar days, or until April 3, 2018, in which to regain compliance to Nasdaq Listing Rules or risk being de-listed.

Aemetis' Indian Enzymatic Biodiesel Unit Completed (Ind. Report)

Cupertino, California-headquartered Aemetis, Inc. reports it has signed a Master Agreement with key exclusive rights for the use of Richland, Washington-based InEnTec's patented Plasma Enhanced Melter® gasification technology to produce cellulosic ethanol. The InEnTec gasification technology agreement is a key part of Aemetis' strategy to produce high value, low carbon cellulosic ethanol from locally sourced biomass by integrating InEnTec's patented advanced gasification technology with LanzaTech's patented microbial fermentation technology. InEnTec's technology was developed at MIT and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) with the support of the US Department of Energy.

Under the Master Agreement, Aemetis has predominant exclusive rights to use the InEnTec gasification equipment and technology for cellulosic ethanol production until 2024. The gasification technology complements Aemetis' current license with LanzaTech for syngas-to-ethanol conversion, providing Aemetis with a complete technology solution to produce locally sourced, low carbon cellulosic ethanol, accoding to a release. Universal Biofuels Inks BP Biodiesel Supply Deal (Ind. Report)

Cupertiono, California-headquartered advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals specialist Aemetis, Inc. reports its Universal Biofuels subsidiary has inked a three-year biofuels supply agreement with BP Singapore Pte Limited (BPS), the regional trading arm of BP Plc, which has an expanding biofuels portfolio.

The Universal Biofuels 50 million gpy plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh is expected to begin shipments to foreign marketsbeginning in Q3. Universal Biofuels is the only India biofuels producer approved under the Low Carbon Fuel Standard for delivery of tallow and waste oil biodiesel into California. Universal Biofuels Wins Indian Biodiesel Supply Contract (Int'l)

Cuperetrino, California-based renewable chemicals and fuels producer Aemetis is reporting that its Indian subsidiary Universal Biofuels has been awarded its first contract to supply biodiesel to the Indian government-owned Oil Marketing Companies in a public tender process.

The Indian biodiesel market is approximately 25 billion gpy, of which less than 250 million gpy of biodiesel is currently blended. The OMCs provide about 70 pct of the fuel consumed in the country. Aemetis Scores $6Mn Indian Biodiesel Supply Contract (Int'l)

Cupertiono, California-headquartered advanced renewable fuels and biochemicals specialist Aemetis, Inc. reports its Universal Biofuels subsidiary has won its first contract to supply biodiesel to the India government-owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) in a public tender process.

In 2016, the Indina government approved the use of up to 100 pct biodiesel to blend or replace diesel fuel, but biodiesel producers are currently limited to sales directly to bulk customers, including trucking and bus companies and to OMCs. The government approval for sales of 100 pct biodiesel by producers to fuel retailers. OMC's are presently permitted to market blended biodiesel to railroads, bulk customers, and retail stations. India's total diesel market is approximately 25 billion gpy, of which less than 250 million gpy of biodiesel is currently blended. The OMC's provide about 70 pct of the fuel consumed in India.

Aemetis owns and operates a 60 million gpy ethanol plant near Modesto, California, and a 50 million gpy renewable chemical and advanced fuel production facility on the East Coast of India. The Indian plant produces high quality distilled biodiesel and refined glycerin for customers in India and Europe. The company also operates a R&D laboratory at the Maryland Biotech Center, and holds a portfolio of patents and related technology licenses for the production of renewable fuels and biochemicals. Edeniq Files Cross-Complaint Against Ametis in Failed Merger Action (Ind. Report)

Following on our May 9, 2016 coverage, in a March 20th statement, Visalia, California-based cellulosic and biorefining technology specialist Edeniq, Inc. reports it has filed a cross-complaint against Cupertino, California-based renewable chemicals and fuels producer Aemetis for fraud and negligent misrepresentation among other claims.

Edeniq claims it terminated its merger agreement with Aemetis in August 2016 and is defending itself against a merit-less lawsuit Aemetis filed shortly thereafter. The company claims that two two of Aemetis' four original claims dismissed.

Edeniq claims that Aemetis was unable to finance the merger and fraudulently induced Edeniq to enter into the agreement by misrepresenting the circumstances under which it could do so. Edeniq also seeks to enjoin Aemetis from misappropriating and using its trademark.
