Buildings Save Energy with BRESAER System (Ind. Report)
Bresaer
Date: 2019-08-05
According to the Eu news agency Cordis, buildings account for around 40 pct of energy consumption and revamping existing building envelopes -- facades and roofs -- for maximum energy-efficiency, when combined with a smart energy management system, can significantly cut energy consumption and costs.

One expert who has been working at the heart of this topic is Gonzalo Pinto Quijano, an architect specializing in sustainable buildings at Acciona. As part of the EU project BRESAER, he has helped design and test a pioneering lightweight structural mesh to boost the energy-performance building facades.

The BRESAER building mesh system is modular and flexible, allowing it to adapt to different climatic conditions and architectural constraints. The lightweight structural mesh allows other components to be easily integrated into an energy efficient building facade .

Acciona, Madrid Ink Municipal Bldg. Energy Efficiency Deal (Int'l)
Acciona
Date: 2019-02-25
In Spain, the city of Madrid's reports it has inked an agreement with Acciona for a project aimed at enhancing the energy management and energy efficiency of 400 municipal buildings. Under the agreement, Acciona will provide real-time energy consumption information and enable management of energy consumption in schools, offices and other municipal facilities.

Acciona will initially perform a baseline audit to ascertain current energy consumption. The buildings will subsequently be monitored to obtain energy consumption data in real time. The captured data will be organized and processed at the ACCIONA Building Control Centre where it will be analyzed around the clock. The resulting information will enable the city to respond to alerts of anomalous consumption and provide information with which to enhance operations and detect inefficient consumption patterns.

Acciona will draw on the data for measures such as the implementation of specific efficiency measures, the swapping-out of obsolete and inefficient items of equipment, and the installation of control and automation devices.
