EDF Energy, Nuvve Installing V2G Chargers in UK (Int'l Report)
EDF Energy, Nuvve
Date: 2018-11-05
In the UK, EDF Energy reports it is partnering with San Diego, California-base Nuvve to install up to 1,500 EV Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) battery chargers in the UK. The chargers will be offered to EDF Energy's business customers and will be used at its own sites to provide up to 15 megawatts of additional energy storage capacity -- sufficient energy to power 4,000 homes.

V2G chargers allow a two-way flow of electricity between an EV and the charger, representing a potentially valuable opportunity to further enhance the electricity system benefits of EVs through provision of large volumes of cheap storage and flexibility.

Nuvve has deployed V2G projects on five continents including the world's first fully commercial V2G hub in Denmark which has been operational for two years. EDF generates electricity with eight nuclear power stations, more than 30 wind farms, one gas and two coal power stations, as well as with combined heat and power plants. EDF Off-loading Half of its UK Wind Assets (Ind. Report, Int'l)
EDF Energy Renewables
Date: 2018-05-21
French energy giant giant EDF Energy Renewables reports it is in talks to sell a 49 pct stake in its portfolio of UK wind farms in a deal approaching £600 million. EDF owns 23 onshore wind farms and one offshore wind farm off the north-east coast of England that generate about 550MW of electricity.

Barclays is advising EDF on the sale which would be the largest in a series of EDF transactions intended to expand into other energy sectors. To that end, in November 2017, EDF sold an 80 pct stake in five of its onshore wind farms totaling 100 MW to Greencoat UK Wind. It continues to run the sites and provide maintenance and operational services. (Source: EDF, Financial Times, 20 May, 2018) Contact: EDF Energy Renewables, Matthieu Hue, CEO, www.edf-er.com
